Crazy, Mental, Haunting.
Some bands are quite honestly fucking nuts. this last week I’ve stumbled across 2 bands that are utterly crazy and I love them.
First up are the bizarrely named Ute. They’re from Oxford so I guess that means they all live with The Foals and suckle on Thom Yorke’s teats at night. Seriously, I used to live in Oxford, that shit is for real, I once had to milk Phil Selway… Anyway Ute are newly signed to the brilliant Alcopop and their Gambler EP is out on Monday. Here is a taster:
See what I mean? That’s crazy shit right there, that’s what music sounds like in a mad person’s mind. If I was going to go nuts in the noggin, dress like a clown and start killing and eating my neighbours, that would be the soundtrack in my head.
Next up is the brilliantly named Cesspool. They’re from the USA and they’re crazy mental. We’ll ignore the fact that, yes, they’re from Brooklyn, lets just focus on the music. man. Below is a track taken from their brilliantly nuts Heartbreak EP
I love these guys, they’re like the Violent Femmes with learning difficulties. If I was to go crazy in the skull and start masturbating in front of old ladies in Waitrose, that would be the soundtrack in my mind.
If you like that, head over to their bandcamp page to download the entire EP - HERE.
So after all that weirdness I think we need something a bit normal and soothing. This is from Wolf Gang, I love Wolf Gang and this version of recent single Lions In Cages was very rightly described to me as ‘haunting’. It is, it’s lovely and it’s an EXCLUSIVE:
Wolf Gang – Lions In Cages (Acoustic Version)
LOVE THAT!
