Monday Bangers (and why not?)
Remixing a classic is a tricky business, admittedly the chances of epic failure are not hanging over an act quite as much as one trying to record an out-and-out cover version, but even so, to win us cynical muso geeks over IT HAD BETTER BE FUCKING AMAZING, otherwise why waste your time?
Thankfully there are a few remixers who have had the balls (or maybe the sheer audacity) to deconstruct some untouchable tracks and maybe make them just that little bit better.. or at least more danceable!
Discotech are one of the undoubted masters of taking a familiar tune and giving it that extra kick. Their remix of Roxanne by The Police is brilliant, the break down after the intro is nothing short of genius, cheeky muthafuckers:
Roxanne (DiscoTech Remix) – The Police
Touching a Rolling Stones song is always going to provoke controversy and cries of dissent. There are a couple of great remixes out there to track down though (Discotech’s remix of ‘Satisfaction’ is one). The jewel in the crown though comes from the remix kings Soulwax. If the Rolling Stones had been taking ketamine and listening to minimal house I’d imagine this is how they’d have sounded:
You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Soulwax Remix)
A-Ha’s ‘Take On Me’ is a classic, not just an 80′s classic, A CLASSIC. Dont argue with me on this. Brazilian remix artists The Twelves are without doubt my favourite remixers at the moment. There’s none better for taking a tune and just giving it a little disco twist that gets all the girls (and me) shaking our thang. I LOVE THIS.
Take On Me (The Twelves Remix) – A-Ha
Finally I leave you with this remix of ‘Good Vibrations’ by Stanton Warriors
Good Vibrations (Stanton Warriors Remix) – The Beach Boys
Any other good suggestions people??

Check Out…
The Beatles – Come Together (David Starfire Remix) almost as great as the original.
Another Beach Boys..
Wouldn’t It Be Nice (The Girls Can’t Hear Us Remix) such a legit party song.
It is really tough for these DJ’s to do this to older stuff but when they are able to pull it off, it is usually brilliant. Send me an email if you want the mp3s, i’ll be more than glad to send them on over.

I’m not to sure I tend to just use Cd’s. Probably abelton, then you’d need a good sound card as well as the midi links to the cd-js
